GENERAL ELECTRIC
GE is a diversified technology and services company dedicated to creating products that make life better from aircraft engines and power generation to financial services, medical imaging, television programming and plastics. GE operates in more than 100 countries and employs more than 315,000 people worldwide.

For GE, globalization is not only striving to grow revenues by selling goods and services in global markets. It also means globalizing every activity of the company, including the sourcing of raw materials, components, and products. Globalization especially means finding and attracting the unlimited pool of intellectual capital - the very best people - from all around the globe.
GE in China. GE first began trading in China in 1906. In 1908 it established its first light bulb factory in Shenyang and in 1934 began importing electrical goods. Today all of GE's eight industrial businesses are represented in China including aircraft engines; power systems; medical systems; plastics; specialty materials; consumer products; industrial systems and transportation systems. To date GE has invested over US$1.5 billion in China with more than 10,000 employees.

GENERAL MOTORS
General Motors Corp. (NYSE: GM), the world's largest vehicle manufacturer, employs 340,000 people globally in its core automotive business and subsidiaries. Founded in 1908, GM has been the global automotive sales leader since 1931.

GM today has manufacturing operations in 32 countries and its vehicles are sold in more than 190 countries. In 2002, GM sold more than 8.6 million cars and trucks, nearly 15 percent of the global vehicle market. GM's global headquarters is at the GM Renaissance Center in Detroit.

The GM Group of global partners includes Fiat Auto Spa of Italy, Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., Isuzu Motors Ltd. and Suzuki Motor Corp. of Japan, which are involved in various product, powertrain and purchasing collaborations. In addition, GM is the largest shareholder in GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co. of South Korea.

GM also has technology collaborations with BMW AG of Germany and Toyota Motor Corp. of Japan, and vehicle manufacturing ventures with several automakers around the world, including Toyota, Suzuki, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. of China, AVTOVAZ of Russia and Renault SA of France.

GM's automotive brands are Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Holden, HUMMER, Oldsmobile, Opel, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn and Vauxhall.

In some countries, the GM Group distribution network also markets vehicles manufactured by GM Daewoo, Isuzu, Subaru and Suzuki.

FORD
Ford Motor Company is the world's second largest producer of cars and trucks in terms of revenues and units sold, and one of the largest providers of automotive financial services. They market the vehicles under the eight brands. During 2002, they made 7 million vehicles and employed 350,000 people worldwide. They business partners include 28,000 dealers and more than 10,000 suppliers. They subsidiaries - Ford Credit and Hertz - provide financing and leasing services to retail and fleet customers. Quality Care, Motorcraft and Extended Service Plan provide customer service support to they dealers.

Asia-Pacific is expected to account for over half the growth in the global auto industry in the next 10 years, and almost half of this will occur in China. The opportunities and complexities it represents are immense. They plan to participate profitably and responsibly in China's automotive market and have plans in place to expand in well-measured steps.

Johnson & Johnson
Johnson & Johnson is the world's most comprehensive and broadly based manufacturer of health care products, as well as a provider of related services, for the consumer, pharmaceutical and medical devices and diagnostics markets. Johnson & Johnson has 200 operating companies in 54 countries around the world employing 112,000 employees and selling products in more than 175 countries. Johnson & Johnson companies are located all around the world.

The fundamental objective of Johnson & Johnson is to provide scientifically sound, high quality products and services to help heal, cure disease and improve the quality of life. This is a goal that began with the Company's founding in 1886.
Operating management of each company is headed by a Chairman, President, General Manager or Managing Director who reports directly or through a line executive to a Group Operating Committee. International companies run primarily by natives of the country in which they are located.

Cargill in China .
Cargill Incorporated is an international marketer, processor and distributor of agricultural, food, financial and industrial products and services with 98,000 employees in 61 countries. The company provides distinctive customer solutions in supply chain management, food applications, and health and nutrition.

Cargill' s trade with China began shortly after President Nixon's visit in 1972. Currently, Cargill sells grains, oilseeds, steel products, sugar, fertilizers, fruit juices, meats and other commodities to China while buying Chinese commodities such as cotton, steel, sugar, apple juice and corn.

In 2000, Cargill-China trade amounted to more than US$800 million: US$550 million in Cargill sales to China and more than US$250 million in Cargill purchases from China. Cargill also operates 18 facilities in China that produce and distribute animal feeds and fertilizers in the domestic market.
